HERE’S WHICH ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’ CHARACTER EMBODIES YOUR ZODIAC SIGN
Find out which Guardians of the Galaxy character aligns perfectly with your zodiac sign!
ARIES (MARCH 21 – APRIL 19): Yondu
Yondu is the OG Guardian, appearing in 1969’s Marvel Superheroes #18! Like every iconic Aries, he is the foundation from which the entire enterprise was formed. Of course, he became a household name with his starring role in the MCU, and even though Yondu may have been stubborn and antagonistic, it was all a front to mask his deeply paternal feelings for Peter Quill.
There is no doubt this independent and adventurous space wayfarer embodies both Mary Poppins and our favorite Fire sign. Mad props to Michael Rooker for nailing this performance!
TAURUS (APRIL 20 – MAY 20): Angela
Moving from Image Comics to Marvel Comics, Angela is one of the few characters to cross publishing companies. This is because a Taurus can make the impossible happen! Whether she’s teaming up with Spawn or Thor, Angela has a divine quality about her that resonates with all readers. We still gag over her Spawn action figure from when we were growing up!
Let’s be real–it took this 90s icon (and obvious Earth sign) to salvage the comic book storyline “Age of Ultron” because it was garbage until the very end when our jaws dropped and it was revealed she was in the Marvel Universe!
GEMINI (MAY 21 – JUNE 20): Adam Warlock
Every single Guardians of the Galaxy fan has been waiting for Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock to debut in the MCU. Warlock has been at the center of many classic Marvel Comics stories such as the comic book version of “Infinity War” and “Infinity Crusade.” It’s criminal it’s taken him so long to enter the MCU!
Like all Geminis, Warlock is a warrior of the cosmos, whose ethereal persona has the ability to speak directly to souls. We loved him in “Infinity Watch,” and we’re counting down the days to Poulter’s performance in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” Perhaps he’ll be teased in the upcoming Holiday Special?
CANCER (JUNE 21 – JULY 22): Mantis
Obviously when discussing Mantis we know there are two very different versions of the character from the MCU and the comics. However, Pom Klementieff played her with such heart that the movie version is what comes to mind when we think of this celestial Madonna! Cancers are known for being compassionate and empathetic with a natural aptitude to protect those around them. Is it any wonder that we know Mantis is a sensitive Cancer?
Also, her self-narration quirk from the comics is a serious vibe that we all need to adopt as a society. It just screams humor and drama.
LEO (JULY 23 – AUGUST 22): Drax
Leos are fierce protectors of their tribe. They are lions, king of the cosmic jungle. This is best shown within our favorite red and green-skinned Guardian: Drax! Debuting in the Iron Man comics in the 1970s, Drax became an iconic superhero when Dave Bautista stepped into his boots in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1.”
Fierce, tough, and confident, Drax is Fire sign to his core. This is best illustrated with the OG Captain Marvel in the comics. However, he has known loss and that’s what makes him such a great warrior. He has purpose and will avenge his family no matter what!
VIRGO (AUGUST 23 – SEPTEMBER 22): Gamora
FACT: Virgos possess the skills to become the universe’s most deadly assassins and that is why Gamora is the poster child for this Earth sign. They will use all of their intellect, strategy and cunning to outmaneuver any master plan! But just because Virgos are tough and precise doesn’t mean they lack heart. Quite the opposite! Virgos love others deeply, even if they’re not the most affectionate zodiac sign of all.
Be it in the epic comic book storyline “Infinity Countdown” or the MCU’s “Infinity War,” Gamora’s ties to the Soul Stone are legendary because she puts the safety of others before her own life.
LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 – OCTOBER 22): Star-Lord
There is no doubt our favorite 80s icon is a Libra! This Air sign always has the best playlist imaginable, from Depeche Mode to The Smiths. Libras are born with good music and taste in their veins–they’re ruled by Venus, afterall. Star-Lord resonates with music because it’s a way for him to connect with his human emotions and Libras understand that level of sensitivity.
Chris Pratt’s performance as Star-Lord propelled him even further into stardom, but the character has been a fan-favorite since his debut in Marvel Previews in 1976. We know Brian Michael Bendis’ run in the comics is a bit contentious with fans, but we thoroughly enjoyed his interpretation of Quill, especially during the “Trial of Jean Grey” crossover!
SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 – NOVEMBER 21): Beta Ray Bill
Why hasn’t Beta Ray Bill made his MCU debut yet? This is a Bronze Age superhero who has captivated the hearts of so many comic readers. He was originally going to be in “Thor: Ragnarok” but he didn’t make the final cut because Kevin Feige thought it was too soon to introduce him to moviegoers (did you hear that collective boo, Feige?).
On the surface, Beta Ray Bill seems like a comedic gag in regards to Thor. However, the character embodies so much heart. Do you remember his time on Omega Flight? It’s okay if you don’t, not many people do. Like a good Scorpio, he sacrificed himself to stop the Great Beasts! He even goes toe-to-toe with Galactus! We even loved him as part of the “All New, All Different Guardians” line-up with Kitty Pryde and Cosmic Ghost Rider!
SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 – DECEMBER 21): Rocket Raccoon
Gasp! A feisty Fire sign with a big heart seems almost cliché at this point. However, it’s how we would best characterize Rocket Raccoon. He’s mischievous and tolerates no BSs from anyone around him–but he also cares so much for his chosen family.
Sagittarians, like Rocket Raccoon, always have a masterful way of being adventurous and diving into the next horizon. No one ups them–they’re always “go big or go home.” Rocket may be emotionally guarded, but with his intergalactic rag tag team, he opens up in ways that even surprise him. Is it any wonder we saw him lead the team in the comics? Rumor has it “Vol. 3” will focus on his origin story and we cannot wait to hear Bradley Cooper reprise the role.
CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 – JANUARY 19): Groot
Capricorns, like Groot, are the steady rock–or, er, root–of every team they find themselves within. They possess a deep wisdom and insight into life, even if it takes them awhile to develop it. While they may not always show their feelings right away, they do possess an introverted, introspective emotional intelligence. Vin Diesel understands this about Groot, and that’s why the character has become an MCU fan-favorite to so many.
Capricorns also create their own language and express themselves in unique ways. They easily form bonds with the toughest people in the room because they can see past surface level demeanors (we’re looking at you Rocket!). He’s come a long way since his “Tales to Astonish” debut back in 1960 and we can’t wait to see him continue to evolve.
AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 – FEBRUARY 18): Nebula
We felt for Nebula during the “Infinity Gauntlet” arc in the comics. Thanos was a monster to her and we cheered when she finally got ahold of the Infinity Gauntlet. In the movies, Karen Gillan plays her with such bravado that we couldn’t help empathizing with her the second she graces the silver screen.
At her core, Nebula is in search of her own tribe. Being a part of this galactic chosen family means more to her than she can ever express. Her Aquarian tendencies make her cunning and powerful, but even though she may mostly be made up of machine parts (Aquarians do sort of have a robotic edge to them), she is a deeply human character.
PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 – MARCH 20): Kitty Pryde
That’s right folks! Our favorite X-ingénue held the mantle of Star-Lord in the comics and has even led the Guardians of the Galaxy! We love Kitty Pryde and she represents the best of the indomitable Piscean spirit. This allows them to soar to the cosmos in search of new spiritual and celestial adventures! Whether it’s with Wolverine or Cosmic Ghost Rider, Kitty Pryde easily adapts to the environment around her and is always game to embark on a new journey.
Kitty may be wayward at times, but this contributes to her dreamy Water-sign persona that has made her a fan-favorite since Chris Claremont introduced her during “the Dark Phoenix Saga.” By the way, we totally ship her and Peter Quill together (sorry Colossus) and can only hope we’ll see her pop up in the MCU very soon.
