WHAT IS A ZODIAC QUALITY?

When it comes to the twelve zodiac signs, each one plays a different role in the collective of humanity and mirroring the cycle of life. We are born, we grow, and we transcend to the next cycle. Recently, we discussed zodiac elements and how they all unite to balance the spirit, the mind, emotion, and matter. Yet, the Ancients had further ways of classifying the twelve signs, and it was into three different qualities

Each quality represents a different stage in the year’s cycle of seasons, but also mirrors how we interact with other people individually or in a group. Each has their role to play and stands a part from the rest.

CARDINAL

The Cardinal Signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. As the sign that initiates each season, the Cardinal Signs are the initiators who charge forward to make things happen. Aries starts Spring, Cancer kicks off Summer, Libra signals Fall, and Capricorn ushers in Winter. Cardinal Signs are “doers” and launch projects, relationships, ideas, and plans. However, just because they get things going doesn’t mean they have the staying power to finish them. Cardinal Signs like to start new things as soon they can. Their enthusiasm to begin something will often rally the people around them, so you will often find these signs taking up leadership roles. Ideas are important to these zodiac signs, and their ambition and speed once energized are hard to miss. You can easily spot someone with a lot of Cardinal Sign energy throwing the party, wanting to be the star, or getting what they want, when they want it.

FIXED

The Fixed Signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. Following in the progression of their associated season, Fixed Signs like to make the ideas around them tangible and will do the work necessary to reach the finished line. They’re stabilizing people, ones who have incredible endurance and won’t take “no” for an answer. However, because of this, they can be very stubborn and do not like to back down from their initial plans or relationships. Failure isn’t an option to them since they know what it takes to make something successful – a lot of patience and hard work. Building things of value are important to these zodiac signs because they want something to show for all of their invested time and effort. At the peak of their associated season, with Taurus holding down Spring, Leo relishing in Summer, Scorpio getting deep into Fall, and Aquarius gripping Winter, these signs are steady, trustworthy, and loyal. When they set their minds on something, expect that they intend to get their way. This is because they are extremely strong and sturdy. You can always spot a Fixed Sign when they are making plans to get the team from A to Z, putting in hours far beyond others to achieve a victory that they dream, or patiently waiting to reap the emotional rewards they want from the people who they love.

MUTABLE

The Mutable Signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. These four signs complete the cycle of their respective season and transition it to the next one. Gemini completes Spring, Virgo concludes Summer, Sagittarius smiles back upon Fall, and Pisces kisses Winter goodbye. These signs know how great and wonderful their entire season has been, but know that it is time to move on and go forward. Of the three qualities, these zodiac signs are the most flexible, adaptable, and prone to change. This inherently gives them a wisdom that the other signs do not have because they love their ability to fluidly move amongst situations, people, relationships, and projects. They’re able to multi-task in a way the other signs cannot, but also have a critical eye when it comes to the whole package in front of them. They know how to polish something off, edit any final tweaks, and then appreciate the abundance that has come. Another way of looking at these signs is that they are the “harvest” that has come in now that the season is over. When you’re looking to spot a Mutable Sign, watch how they are naturally talented at many different things, can be a bit scattered if they’re being tied down, and prefer their own version of “freedom” so they can play with the world around them.

THE SYNERGY

Just as the elements in our charts help blend to make us who we are, so do our zodiac qualities. To determine your most prominent ones, look to your Rising/Ascendant Sign and then your Solar Sign. Together, you will see if you are one quality in the same or actually a mixture of two. Then, analyze how you operate in life, in relationships, and in work. You will finally see your “natural” mode. Be confident in it, and love it about you. These are some of the gems that make you who you are.
