When it comes to making astrology predictions—particularly in regards to major events like March Madness—there are many factors to consider. First and foremost, looking at each team’s date of inception is extremely important, as it reveals the natal chart for each team. Yet, because this information is not readily available, several other factors can help us understand some of the cosmic forces affecting the direction of where they are headed in the heat of the moment. One can look at the coach of the team to understand the vision for where they’re headed, which is what I will be doing specifically in regards to each team of the final 16.

For astrological analysis purposes, no birth times were utilized. The standard “point of entry” was placed at 3:30 PM for when the next round of games “kicks off.”

Teams & Coaches

Alabama Crimson Tide. Head coach: Nate Oats. He was born on October 13, 1974. (Place of birth: Watertown, Wisconsin)

  • When it comes to one of the coaches with the absolute best astrology on their side, it’s Nate Oats from the Alabama Crimson Tide. Luck, expansion, and success seem almost destined. This is because transiting Jupiter is opposite his natal Sun, exact on April 3, 2023. Transiting Jupiter is also in a strong square with natal Saturn on March 29, 2023. With Jupiter being the planet of fortune and linking to his life force and his long-term foundation, he has a lot of strength to lead his team to victory.

Houston Cougars. Head coach: Kelvin Sampson. He was born on October 5, 1955. (Place of birth: Robeson, North Carolina).

  • Kelvin Sampson from the Houston Cougars has cosmic firepower working with him. His ambition, tenacity, and sheer strength of will are especially potent now. This is because transiting Mars is in a strong sextile with his natal Pluto. Transiting Mercury is also opposite his Sun and trine his Mercury, bringing a winning edge to strategy and tactics.

Texas Longhorns. Head coach: Rodney Terry. He was born on March 27, 1968. (Place of birth: Angleton, Texas)

  • Rodney Terry of the Texas Longhorns also has a cosmic boost at this time. Te transiting sun is conjunct his natal Sun, which will give him a sense of authority and put him in the spotlight. Transiting Jupiter is also in a conjunction with his natal Saturn, helping achievements to be found but also allows him to set up a new chapter for twelve years around success. Transiting Mars is sextile his natal Mars, making him bold and decisive.

Michigan State Spartans. Head coach: Tom Izzo. He was born on January 30, 1955. (Place of birth: Iron Mountain, Michigan)

  • Tom Izzo from the Michigan State Spartans has some of the best intellectual and communicative powers out of all of the coaches at this time. This is because he will easily be able to blend his willpower and strategy into one. This is due to transiting Mercury sextile his natal Sun and conjunct natal Mars.  Transiting Mars is also trine his natal Mercury. This gives him a significant edge.

San Diego State Aztecs. Head coach: Brian Dutcher. He was born on October 30, 1959. (Place of birth: Alpena, Michigan)

  • Brian Dutcher of the San Diego State Aztecs has some of the best luck on his side when it comes to personal and professional growth. This is due to the transiting Sun trine his natal Jupiter, blessing him with a golden streak. Transiting Saturn will sextile his natal Saturn, exact on April 1, 2023, likely bringing achievement as he seizes the day.

Xavier Musketeers. Head coach: Sean Miller. He was born on November 17, 1968. (Place of birth: Ellwood City, Pennsylvania)

  • Sean Miller will feel larger than life—but may need to temper his optimism and sense of primal instincts. While he could have a winning streak around his ambitions, he will need to find balance and moderation to plan accordingly. This is due to transiting Mars square his natal Jupiter, exact on March 25, 2023. Transiting Jupiter is also conjunct his natal Saturn, which shows he is entering into a major period of achievement, especially near April 3, 2023.

UCLA Bruins. Head coach: Mick Cronin. He was born on July 17, 1971. (Place of birth: Cincinnati, Ohio)

  • Mick Cronin of the UCLA Bruin has a nice bought of energy shining his direction, with the Sun sextile to his natal Saturn. This can give achievements that pay off handsomely but are always tied to his strategies and the work he has previously invested. Unfortunately, he also is dealing with some very challenging cosmic weather affecting his birth chart, such as transiting Saturn square his natal Saturn, bringing crisis, as well as transiting Mars square his natal Pluto, bringing ruthless power struggles, and transiting Mercury opposite his natal Uranus bringing confusion at this time.

UConn Huskies. Head coach: Dan Hurley. He was born on January 16, 1973. (Place of birth: Jersey City, New Jersey)

  • As we move further down the list, we start to see more challenges and hurdles popping up astrologically for the other coaches. While Dan Hurley of the UConn Huskies will feel excited and optimistic, particularly near March 28, 2023 as transiting Jupiter squares his natal Mercury, he is facing transformative crisis moments due to the transiting Sun opposite his natal Pluto.

Kansas State Wildcats. Head coach: Jerome Tang. He was born on October 7, 1966. (Place of birth: San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago)

  • Jerome Tang of the Kansas State Wildcats will have an agile mind and ability to communicate in a calm and collected way. This is due to transiting Saturn trine his natal Mercury, which is exact on March 25, 2023. He also has a bought of luck on his side with the transiting sun trine his natal Jupiter, bringing breakthroughs and expansion. However, transiting Pluto is square his natal Mercury and opposite natal Jupiter, which can make him especially introspective and obsessive, which could make challenges arise.

Gonzaga Bulldogs. Head coach: Mark Few. He was born on December 27, 1962. (Place of birth: Creswell, Oregon)

  • Mark Few of the Gonzaga Bulldogs will be fired up and have an agile mind to plan strategically. However, he could also be clashing with some hotheaded egos and personalities either on his team or around the court. This is because of the transiting Sun square his natal Sun and transiting Mercury sextile his natal Saturn. Transiting Venus trine his natal Sun and sextile natal Jupiter, though, show general feelings of pleasure and good fortune being bestowed upon him.

Creighton Bluejays. Head coach: Greg McDermott. He was born on November 25, 1964. (Place of birth: Cascade, Iowa)

  • Greg McDermott of the Creighton Bluejays has some marvelous cosmic energy on his side at this time, most notably with the transiting Sun trine his natal Sun, bringing him great vitality and a harmonious flow, as well as an ambitious streak that can lead to achievement due to transiting Mars trine his natal Saturn. Unfortunately, with transiting Saturn square his natal Sun, though, I think he’s going to feel put through the ringer as he forges ahead.

Florida Atlantic Owls. Head coach: Dusty May. He was born on December 30, 1976. (Place of birth: Indiana)

  • Dusty May of the Florida Atlantic Owls will experience explosive tension and a nearly violent hunger for conquest. This is due to transiting Mars opposite his natal Mars. On a positive end, though, transiting Jupiter is still trine his natal Saturn, although it is fading in aspect by this time but could still bring some luck around ambition.

Tennessee Volunteers. Head coach: Rick Barnes. He was born on July 17, 1954. (Place of birth: Hickory, North Carolina)

  • Rick Barnes of the Tennessee Volunteers is going to see career rewards come more easily now, with victories directly tied to how he’s built in the past nine or so years. This is due to transiting Saturn trine his natal Saturn. Transiting Mercury will square his natal Mercury at this time, which on one hand can help him to think outside of the box, but it could also make his communication misheard by others.

Miami (FL) Hurricanes. Head coach: Jim Larrañaga. He was born on October 2, 1949. (Place of birth: Bronx, New York)

  • Jim Larrañaga of the Miami Hurricanes will feel a surge of luck by striking hard and fast against his opponents. This is due to transiting Jupiter trine his natal Mars and Pluto, with the secondary aspect taking place exactly on March 25, 2023. Luck will be on his side. However, he is also prone to be particularly explosive near this time, with accidents and shocking events hitting him, with the transiting sun in a strong square with his Uranus, the planet of chaos.

Princeton Tigers. Head coach: Mitch Henderson. He was born on August 14, 1975. (Place of birth: Vincennes, Indiana)

  • Unfortunately, of all of the coaches, the one that may have the biggest uphill battle is Mitch Henderson of the Princeton Tigers. Transiting Saturn, the planet of challenges, is opposite his natal Mercury, weakening his mind, and square his natal Mars, weakening his strength and willpower.
